Founded in 1974 by Janette Carter to honor her parents (A.P. and Sara Carter) and aunt (Maybelle Carter)—who famously birthed the country music genre during the 1927 Bristol Sessions—the venue stands as a hallowed landmark on The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail.
